Morgan Territory Park looking at Mt. Diablo

      Diablo foothills from Morgan Territory to the Delta, a collection of recent wildlife photographs taken in Contra Costa County. Morgan Territory is a beautiful area to hike, and the middle of several other interesting parks including Mt. Diablo, Los Vaqueros and Round Valley.

Western Coyote @ Morgan Territory park. Rebel my pup and I encountered this on on the trail, in a head on meeting. Song dog veered up hill and went around us. I have been seeing more lately, perhaps coming back a bit from being rather scarce the last few years out on the plains...

Western Meadowlark Eastern CC County out in the grasslands.

Tri Colored Black bird on the plains Eastern CC County. I have watched these birds for years, very social within their own species, though rare usually seen with hundreds of the same species sometimes inmixed with red winged or other black birds. Unlike red winged black birds, tri-colored when nesting mass in densley packed nesting concentrations that may run as high as thousands per acre. The red wingers stragegy is defending their territory when nesting...
