The Rivers Edge
Rebel and I have Been
visiting the California Delta system in the Eastern Contra Costa. February had
many clear days, and a solid atmospheric storm that really helped our area with
rainfall totals. I was basically searching for river otters and any other interesting
species along our waterways. I was impressed with the number of otters I was
able to see, though the majority were too far out to gather credible views. Most
sightings included several otters swimming together as they are very social.
This was very good news to me. In the early mornings, I was able to get a
couple of them at least partially out of the water. One morning, on a very low
tide, I photographed, and hung out for about fifteen minutes with a special
guest in the views below.
