Monarch butterfly stopped in Oakley on its way South

                               CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE NOVEMBER 2026

Hope all is well, I am back with recently photographed wildlife in our Bay Area. I am looking forward to the predictions of a rather large El Nino winter. Not in respect to possible local flooding, but rather the possible distribution of winter time migrating wildlife, creating in some cases, rarely viewed wildlife spread out in interesting and unexpected areas.

I did miss some of the Blacktail rut this year, however, in one cloudy day up around Del Valle I “flagged traffic”, so three tarantulas could cross the roadways safely within the park. (Photographed one) A few new raptors in this group, and some species I haven’t seen in a while.
